Floyd Mayweather Jr. was money once again the richest fight
ever. Mayweather used his reach and his jab Saturday night to frustrate Manny
Pacquiao, piling up enough points to win a unanimous decision in their welterweight
title bout. Mayweather remained unbeaten in 48 with a win that cemented his
legacy as the best of his generation.
Pacquiao did want he wanted to do, chasing Mayweather around
the ring most of the fight. But he was never able to land a sustained volume of
punches, often looking frustrated as Mayweather worked his defensive wizardry
once again. ‘’I thought I caught him many times. I was never hurt. I thought I won
the fight. I hit him many more times than he hit me. I was very surprised with
the scores. I had no problem handling his power. I thought I won,’’ Pacquiao
said.
Mayweather to Vacate five world titles
Fifty is a nice round number, nut it can’t compare to the
nine figure on the check Floyd Mayweather collected after beating Manny
Pacquiao yesterday. He plans to relinquish his world Boxing Council and Woeld
Boxing Organization titles, including his WBA/WBC titles at 154 pounds- as
early as next week. ‘’I’m going to vacate all of my belts on Monday. My last
fight may not be a championship fight,’’ he said. ‘’I’m going to vacate the belts on Monday, maybe in a few
weeks. I’ll talk about it with my team. Why [am I vacating]? To give other
fighters a chance [to fight for those belts]. I’m not greedy.’’
I Fought with one hand says Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao revealed he went into his fight with Floyd
Mayweather with an injured shoulder. And his trainer Freddie Roach said they
did at one point consider postponing the fight. ‘’Three weeks before my fight I
had to skip my training for a couple of days for that reason. We went for an
MRI – there is a tear in my right shoulder,’’ he said. ‘’it’s part of the game.
I don’t want to make abilis or complain or anything (but) it’s hard to fight
one-handed.’’ Pacquiao’s long-time promoter Bob Arum said: ‘’Apparently, the
doctors say it was an old injury.
Mayweather pays tribute to father
Unbeaten Floyd Mayweather paid tribute to his father and his
opponent Manny Pacquiao after his dominant victory in Las Vegas. The 38
year-old put on a tactical masterclass taking a unanimous decision 118-110
116=112 116-112 on the judges scorecard to go 48-0.
‘’Fight off I want to thank God for his victory, all the
fans that came to Las Vegas and all the fans all over the world,’’ Mayweather
said in the ring after the fight. ‘’He’s a hell of fighter, he’s one the guys
at the pinnacle in sport of Boxing. ‘’I know he was going to push me, he had
moments in the fight, but I wasn’t getting hit with a lot of shots. ‘’We did
what we had to do tonight. He is a tough competitor. Got to take my hat off to
my dad, without him I wouldn’t be here. ‘’When
the history books are written – it was worth the wait. ‘’I got one more fight.
My last fight is in September. It is time to fight is in September, it is time
to hang it up and I am truly thankful and blessed.
