According to the Director of Disease Control of Ministry of Health
Rivers state, Dr Roland Obed Whyte the Nigeria all men locally made Gin popularly known as ''
Ogogoro" whose sale and consumption was banned Nationwide by the Federal Government because it was contaminated but still the number of people that has died of it in Rivers State has increased to 66.
Many individuals are still ignorant about it because despite the prevention methods abducted by the Government to stop the death toll still people are drinking the contaminated gin. Is it that they are not aware or just love drinking it?
Dr Roland Obed Whyte also said that the number of deaths cuts
across four local government areas of Rivers state namely Ahoada,
Gokana, Bonny Island and Obio-Akpor.
